Former Baptist pastor Ken Hensley, former Pentecostal pastor Kenny Burchard, and former Wesleyan Matt Swaim all came from very different theological backgrounds, but they all ended up finding a home in the Catholic Church. Each week, they take a look at a major issue or question they faced along the way, and share the series of events and discoveries that led them to embrace the Catholic faith.

Matt Swaim, Ken Hensley, and Kenny Burchard continue their series on Clement of Rome, and what he tells us about early Christianity.
In this episode, they look at what Clement has to say about worship in the early Church. How was it structured? Who presided over it? And what resemblance, if any, did it bear to how Christians worship today?
The Coming Home Network was established in 1993 to help inquiring clergy and laity of various faiths -- or even no faith at all -- with fellowship, resources, and encouragement as they explore the possibility of becoming Catholic.

Matt Swaim, Ken Hensley, and Kenny Burchard continue their series on Clement of Rome, and what he tells us about early Christianity.
Catholics don't merely refer to him as Clement of Rome; he's formally known as Pope St. Clement I.
So what evidence do we have that Clement was acting with apostolic authority, and that those who received his letter recognized that authority?

Matt Swaim, Ken Hensley, and Kenny Burchard each came from parts of the Evangelical world where faith in Jesus was strong, and love of the Bible ran deep, but knowledge of Church history wasn't particularly robust.
And none of them gave much thought at all to Clement of Rome, who would have known the apostles and had a Christian leadership role in Rome in the era immediately following the martyrdoms of Peter and Paul.
So who was he?
Matt, Ken, and Kenny share their experience of discovering the witness of Clement of Rome, and discuss how his story led each of them to want to learn more about the early Church.

A lot has happened since On the Journey launched back in April of 2020!
In their 200th episode, Matt, Ken, and Kenny look back at how each of them got involved with the Coming Home Network, and give a bit of background into the development of the On the Journey podcast and its original stated mission: to share our stories in hopes of helping others like ourselves who are trying to understand the Catholic Faith.

Former Baptist pastor Ken Hensley concludes his series with Matt Swaim and Kenny Burchard about how the theological framework of Dispensationalism began to fall apart for him.
In this episode, they finish their discussion of the prophecies of Jesus in Matthew 24, when the Lord foretells the destruction of the Temple, and the "end of the age." Many of these prophecies are seen by Dispensationalists to refer to the Rapture and the Tribulation; but their most immediate application was to the events that happened in Jerusalem in 70 AD, which Jesus accurately predicted.

Former Baptist pastor Ken Hensley continues his series with Matt Swaim and Kenny Burchard about how the theological framework of Dispensationalism began to fall apart for him.
In this episode, they begin to unpack the prophecies of Jesus in Matthew 24, when the Lord warns his apostles of coming destruction and tragedy. So what was Jesus referring to? What did this mean for the Temple? And when does Jesus indicate these prophecies will be fulfilled?

Former Baptist pastor Ken Hensley continues his series with Matt Swaim and Kenny Burchard about how the theological framework of Dispensationalism began to fall apart for him.
Ken illustrates how the idea of the Rapture in Dispensationalist thought is part of a larger phenomenon within Dispensationalism of "double vision"; two new covenants, two distinct kingdoms of Israel and the Church, and even two "second comings" of Christ.

Former Baptist pastor Ken Hensley continues his series with Matt Swaim and Kenny Burchard about how the theological framework of Dispensationalism began to fall apart for him.
Having built a Biblical and historical case against Dispensationalism over the past several episodes, Ken Hensley ties all the threads together to show how Jesus really did bring the Kingdom through his death, resurrection and ascension; and it is alive and well now in the Church that He founded.

The Old Testament is filled with references to the Promised Land. So how do Jesus and the New Testament authors build on this idea? And what is the geographical territory that is meant to be under the reign of the Messiah?

Former Baptist pastor Ken Hensley continues his series with Matt Swaim and Kenny Burchard about how the theological framework of Dispensationalism began to fall apart for him.
A major theme in the story of God's chosen people Israel is the "Promised Land." Ken Hensley unpacks what was involved in that promise in the generations leading up to Jesus. Was that promise ever fulfilled, and if so, how was it fulfilled?
This sets the stage for our next episode, when we'll discuss how this theme recurs in the teachings and prophecies of the New Testament.
